The Schools of Engineering and the Built Environment (SEBE) and Computer Science have approximately 200 scholars and 3,100 students on campus. We have excellent engineering, construction and computer laboratory facilities.

SEBE offers a diverse range of engineering, surveying and design facilities that provide students with in-demand, industry-relevant skills and training for the best possible career after graduation.

As such, the school is currently recruiting an Electrical/Electronics Technician to support its workshops, laboratories and infrastructure for both teaching and research.

The role:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide high quality electrical technical service to support academic and research activities primarily in the areas of Power Lab, ‘Project’ & 400V Motor/Machine Research Lab and Electronic Principles Lab.

Your proven skills in designing and adapting electrical circuits, prototyping and manufacturing printed circuits, as well as your experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding, repair and safety testing of equipment, will will enable us to effectively manage the day-to-day operation of our electrical installations/electronics teaching rooms.

In addition, your knowledge of high-voltage switchgear and equipment (three-phase and single-phase) and low-voltage electrical and electronic circuits will enable you to design and develop electronic and electrical circuits for student projects, while guiding and supporting them. supporting them to improve their wiring and electrical safety practices.

What we will need from you:

  • Diploma or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Proven skills in the design and adaptation of electrical circuits, prototyping and manufacturing of printed circuits
  • Experience building and modifying custom lab equipment
  • Knowledge of high voltage switchgear and equipment (three phase and single phase) and low voltage electrical and electronic circuits
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions to provide high quality technical support
  • Motivation and ability to manage own workload
  • Excellent computer skills
